I really like that phrase, Amy! That sets a nice tone for the relationship from the beginning. I think it would also help families understand that it’s our job to basically work ourselves OUT of a job! 🙂

I especially like that second phrase, Cori. I think hearing a parent say something like that can feel good, at first, because it feels like the parent is appreciating what you did. BUT, isn’t it so much better when the parent feels responsible for the child’s gains, rather than assigning them to the provider! That’s when it’s working.

I’ve kept those two important phrases in the forefront throughout more than two decades (SHEESH!) in EI.
